One.com vs Webdock

ew weeks later saying I deleted their dashboard software. Apparently that's against their rules. They say you have to keep the LXD/Incus Agent app on your KVM server. If you remove or turn off incus-agent or lxd-agent, almost everything in Webdock breaks and they can't help you. Sounds fine to me! I definitely don't want them snooping on my private rant pages and secret conspiracy theory site!! I handle everything through SSH. Don't need their fancy interface, don't want their support. Told them this and asked why their agent is forced on me. Nothing back. Two weeks after, server got shut down. Considering how cheap this is, and their forced 'telemetry', with automatic enforcement... This is definitely a data collection operation 100% (GDPR compliant of course, whatever that's worth now), and they always seem to want to sell you more stuff. Oh SSL, wordpress, domain name. No thanks mate I just want to rent the VPS and run it my way. No I'm not mining crypto or putting heavy load or anything, just running a simple non profit personal site where I write more and more crazy rants about stuff I don't like, and I manage and set up everything myself. Webdock is definitely getting a hit piece now! With flashing gifs and marquees. Not really sure why there's forced hand-holding, or forced management software. Their server image comes with so much extra stuff, the smallest disk is half full from the start with a bunch of junk. PHP, mysql server, shady dashboard telemetry services. The whole kitchen sink, and they wonder why I threw it out and just used SSH? No reply from support, just automatic suspension emails. God forbid I just want to run my old school personal page in peace, now I have to go back to hosting it myself or find another company. Would have been happy to keep using webdock for 20 years otherwise, had no problems with uptime or performance.
