d them I wouldn't be using the service at all. And most importantly, I explained that the only reason I didn't cancel the auto-renewal earlier was because I was in the hospital. That's an exceptional situation that any normal customer service would understand and help with. OVH? Zero empathy, zero listening, zero flexibility. Just pay up and be quiet. On the phone, they literally told me it wasn't their problem. Even with a medical situation, even with an immediate cancellation, they refused to do anything. It's shocking. And the way they treat customers is even worse: the chat was deliberately cut off while I was explaining, the ticket was marked "resolved" without my agreement just to stop me from replying, they told me "just reply to the ticket" after they'd just closed it. You can feel a total contempt, like bothering support is a crime. OVH's message is clear: even if you're in the hospital, even if you cancel the same day, even if you explain you won't use it, they'll still charge you. At OVH, the customer doesn't matter. All that matters is money, nothing else. If you want a hosting company with a human touch: do not go there. If you want to be treated with contempt, ignored, cut off mid-conversation and forced to pay for an unused service, then OVH is perfect.

They make you use their tracking software

I got a VPS from these guys, thinking it was a normal deal. Seemed like it at first. After I set up the server how I liked, I got some basic email a f...
ew weeks later saying I deleted their dashboard software. Apparently that's against their rules. They say you have to keep the LXD/Incus Agent app on your KVM server. If you remove or turn off incus-agent or lxd-agent, almost everything in Webdock breaks and they can't help you. Sounds fine to me! I definitely don't want them snooping on my private rant pages and secret conspiracy theory site!! I handle everything through SSH. Don't need their fancy interface, don't want their support. Told them this and asked why their agent is forced on me. Nothing back. Two weeks after, server got shut down. Considering how cheap this is, and their forced 'telemetry', with automatic enforcement... This is definitely a data collection operation 100% (GDPR compliant of course, whatever that's worth now), and they always seem to want to sell you more stuff. Oh SSL, wordpress, domain name. No thanks mate I just want to rent the VPS and run it my way. No I'm not mining crypto or putting heavy load or anything, just running a simple non profit personal site where I write more and more crazy rants about stuff I don't like, and I manage and set up everything myself. Webdock is definitely getting a hit piece now! With flashing gifs and marquees. Not really sure why there's forced hand-holding, or forced management software. Their server image comes with so much extra stuff, the smallest disk is half full from the start with a bunch of junk. PHP, mysql server, shady dashboard telemetry services. The whole kitchen sink, and they wonder why I threw it out and just used SSH? No reply from support, just automatic suspension emails. God forbid I just want to run my old school personal page in peace, now I have to go back to hosting it myself or find another company. Would have been happy to keep using webdock for 20 years otherwise, had no problems with uptime or performance.
