Stack Infrastructure (www.stackinfra.com) and Silver Companies have announced plans for a major data center project in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The project, valued at $10 billion, will transform a 250-acre parcel in the Celebrate Virginia area into a campus capable of hosting multiple data centers.
Local officials recently approved a Technology Overlay District to support the development, setting the stage for increased digital infrastructure investment in the region.
This new initiative is expected to boost local revenue and create job opportunities. The full development will depend on final entitlements, water service agreements, and the delivery of transmission power by Dominion Energy.
Project Overview
Approved Technology Overlay District
The Fredericksburg City Council voted 7-0 to approve a 250-acre Technology Overlay District. The approved area is located between Gordon W Shelton Boulevard and Hilton Drive, a location chosen to support future data center development in the city.
Scope and Buildout
The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce estimates that the site could host eight to 12 data centers. The final buildout of the campus is subject to securing necessary entitlements and agreements. Dominion Energy will provide the required transmission power to support the facility.
Economic and Community Impact
Boost to Local Revenue
City officials believe that the project could generate millions of dollars in annual revenue for local residents. The development is expected to create job opportunities and encourage further investment in the region, positively impacting the local economy.
Studies have indicated that this land use could produce, at full buildout, upwards of $60 million in local annual revenue at completion.
