BigRock’s performance is solidly above average for budget hosting. In HostDean’s tests, WordPress websites hosted on BigRock’s servers loaded quickly, thanks to modern infrastructure: high-spec Xeon CPUs, generous RAM, and SSD (or NVMe) storage. The Indian hosting company goes further by deploying Varnish caching and a Cloudflare CDN globally, which means static content is served almost instantly to visitors.
For example, in one of our performance tests, we saw a typical site fully render in about 5–6 seconds on GTmetrix (which is faster than the 7–8 second average for similar budget hosts). This was with a moderately complex WordPress site (dozens of images and scripts), so BigRock’s output is quite respectable. In practice, most lightweight or medium sites will feel snappy.
For hosting, BigRock offers both standard SSD and NVMe plans. We noticed that on the higher tiers (cloud or VPS hosting with NVMe), performance really picked up: pages loaded nearly twice as fast and could handle more concurrent visitors without slowing. The Linux shared plans use SSDs and CloudLinux, which also help stability under load. Windows hosting plans, while using slightly slower storage, still gave reasonably fast page loads (around 1–2 second first-byte times (TTFB) in our cursory checks).

The always-on Cloudflare proxy means even if your main server is physically in one place, static content still rides a CDN nearer visitors worldwide, though Cloudflare is not limited to BigRock and you can use it with any web hosting service. Of course, no host is lightning-fast at every moment, especially budget ones. In very high load scenarios or on the cheapest entry plans, we saw some slowdowns if many people hit a site simultaneously. The Starter shared plan (1 website, 20 GB SSD) was good for single-site personal blogs, but under heavier traffic, it can bottleneck.
Upgrading to the Advanced or Pro plans eases this with more resources (or unlimited sites and bandwidth). In my view, for everyday business sites and blogs (particularly with an Indian audience), BigRock provides robust speed at good rates. I feel confident rating the overall performance 4 out of 5 stars; it lost one star only because the smallest hosting plans do get a little slow under stress. But upgrade to higher-tier plans or cloud, and you should see better performance without the usual high cost.

How reliable is BigRock? Our insights!
BigRock boasts a 99.99% network uptime guarantee, and in our experience, it mostly lives up to that. Their “globally distributed datacenter” setup is designed for high availability: servers are redundant, power has multi-level backups, and human security is strict. When we ran a month-long uptime check on a site hosted on BigRock’s shared plan, the site stayed online 100% of the time. This suggests the infrastructure is very stable. Even though we couldn’t measure for years, this initial reliability was impressive.
The data shows BigRock has historically had few outages. On forums and review sites, most downtime complaints were isolated incidents (for example, occasional database or network troubles), not chronic failures. That said, some users have reported brief outages or slowdowns.
We dug into third-party user feedback and saw some chatter about intermittent downtime over the years. However, many of those issues seemed related to maintenance or migration. The 99.99% guarantee basically promises at most ~1 hour of downtime per year, which is higher than the web hosting industry standard of 99.9% uptime SLA. In practice, BigRock’s SRE team appears quick to remediate any issues; ticket threads showed them restarting services or moving sites to new nodes when needed.
Daily backups on Linux plans also add to reliability. BigRock notes that even the base shared plans include automatic daily site backups (with a specified retention scheme), plus CodeGuard options for full backups. However, these free daily backups can be provided at a nominal fee, a common practice with many Newfold brands, which I don’t like!
In my tests, restoring files from a backup was straightforward via cPanel’s interface. Having easy access to backups greatly increases a site’s resiliency (I was able to recover a test site from a backup file in under 10 minutes). For critical business websites, that’s a reassuring safety net.
To be thorough, one should note the caveats. BigRock’s uptime guarantee is written as “network uptime,” which means they are technically responsible only for their backbone and connectivity, not necessarily individual site failures. It’s an “arrow towards frustration” phrase we see at many hosts: if your code crashes, that’s on you.
Additionally, the money-back policy (allowing refunds as account credit for certain services) can feel less helpful if your website goes down frequently and you actually lose uptime and want out. So keep expectations realistic: they will keep the hardware running, but it’s still shared hosting under the hood.
Overall, though, BigRock’s reliability deserves praise considering its nature as a cheap hosting provider. The combination of quality hardware, redundancy, and active support led to, at least in our experience at HostDean, websites staying accessible and up most of the time. We didn’t encounter unexplained shutdowns. For most users, this translates to very solid uptime and data safety.
For that reason, we give BigRock a reliability rating of 4.3 out of 5. It doesn’t score 5 only because no host is flawless, and a few users have found the support response slow during rare outages. But with proactive monitoring and backups included, we found BigRock’s reliability comparable to many global hosts at twice the price.

Its entry-level Linux Starter plan goes for just ₹69/month (about $0.80) if you pay for a long term, easily one of the lowest we’ve seen at HostDean. Even single-month billing is cheap (around ₹359/mo for Starter). Windows and WordPress hosting plans start slightly higher (around ₹109/mo for Windows Essential, ₹199 for WordPress Starter Lite), but still undercut many rivals.
On HostDean’s comparison charts, BigRock frequently underprices the likes of DreamHost or GoDaddy, while often offering more features in the base plan. For example, even the ₹69 Starter plan includes 20 GB SSD, 5 email accounts, unlimited MySQL databases, and free Let’s Encrypt SSL. At that price, it’s a great bargain for a single-site hosting plan.
Higher-tier plans remain good value, too. The Advanced plan (₹159/mo for one year) adds unlimited storage/bandwidth and a free domain, a package that usually costs more elsewhere. The Pro and Ultimate plans (at ₹199 and ₹249/mo respectively) give unlimited websites, premium SSL, and still lock in cheap renewals if you commit.
Even BigRock’s cheap virtual private server and cloud hosting plans are priced quite reasonably compared to global VPS hosting brands. For instance, a 2 core/4 GB VPS is ₹1099/mo, which is in line with entry-level DigitalOcean droplets or Contabo cloud VPS. The benefit here is that BigRock includes free migration, a dedicated IP, and fully managed options, whereas many VPS hosting vendors charge extra for those.
Of course, there’s always fine print. To hit the lowest prices, BigRock expects multi-year contracts. The ₹69 Starter rate is only for five years upfront; one-year billing doubles the price. This is similar to many hosts’ sales tactics. Also, renewal rates are significantly higher than the intro. Our bill jumped from ₹69 to ₹179 for the Starter on renewal, and likewise for other plans, meaning after year one, you’re paying at least 50–100% more.
We at HostDean recommend checking the renewal tab on BigRock’s site before subscribing. If you only need a short-term website, spreading your payments or canceling before renewal might be wise. Additionally, you are advised to check our BigRock promo codes and coupons page and claim the highest discount to save on your BR bill.
Another pricing con: the 30-day money-back guarantee is limited. It applies only to shared and cloud hosting (not domains, dedicated servers, or VPS), and even then, refunds come back as BigRock credit, not cash. I discovered that you can only apply the credit to new services (or transfer to another user), which isn’t the same as a refund check. So if you sign up for a year and then decide to cancel, you won’t get cash back for the unused months, only a credit voucher. This is a common practice with some hosts, but you should know that up front.
In terms of inclusions, BigRock packs most features in all plans (free SSL, SSH access on Linux, one-click installs). There are no surprise add-on fees except for optional extras (like the SiteLock malware scanner or CodeGuard backup beyond the free tier).

The reason I give BR’s pricing a 4.5 out of 5 stars is the excellent value initially, slightly marred by higher renewals and the limited refund policy. Considering the features included, we at HostDean find BigRock to be one of the best bargains in the Indian hosting market today. Just be sure to plan for the renewal rates when budgeting.

Customer support is an area where BigRock does well in access, but sometimes falls short in speed. The company offers multiple channels: live chat (24/7 for sales/support), toll-free phone lines in India (9 am–8 pm IST), and an online ticket system.
The extensive knowledge base earned praise from us. It’s filled with step-by-step articles and FAQs covering almost every aspect of hosting on BigRock. For example, we found clear guides on setting up WordPress, using cPanel, and securing your site. Even on technical points (like editing .htaccess or migrating databases), the articles were thorough. You can easily pick up the needed know-how without waiting for support, and in many cases, the online documentation will solve your problem without needing to open a ticket at all. This is a big plus.
However, we must note the flipside: some reports of slow or poor support. On third-party review sites like TrustPilot, we saw multiple complaints of long wait times or unhelpful responses, particularly to billing or refund queries. One user mentioned being shuffled between teams (“deletion team”) when trying to cancel service. That aligns with what we sometimes experienced: while technical help was swift, administrative issues sometimes dragged on.

Every shared and cloud plan comes with a strong toolkit: free SSL certificates (Let’s Encrypt on lower plans, Premium SSL on Ultimate plans for free the first year), unlimited subdomains on higher tiers, unlimited MySQL databases, and unmetered bandwidth (on all but the Starter plan).
For WordPress users, BigRock’s specialized plans include some managed WordPress hosting optimizations: server-level caching, JetPack plugin access, and WordPress-specific security scans via SiteLock. We at HostDean saw that even the basic WordPress Lite plan gives a free SSL and 5GB storage, enough to launch a small blog within minutes, but not competitive TBH.
E-commerce features are covered, too. The cloud hosting and virtual private server plans explicitly tout easy one-click installs for Magento, PrestaShop, and OpenCart. In our review, we successfully set up a test Magento store on a BigRock VPS in under 15 minutes using their installer.
Email hosting is also robust: the Titan Business Email and Google Workspace add-ons mean businesses can get professional email easily (though these cost extra, they come with advanced security and spam filtering by default). BR also includes free email with all hosting plans that can be created and managed from the control panel.
Developer-friendly features include SSH access (on all Linux hosting plans) and support for multiple PHP versions (per account). We verified that cPanel allows switching PHP from 5.6 up to PHP 8.x (though note: some legacy applications might need an older PHP, which BigRock still supports). We saw support for Python and Perl as well.
MySQL databases are unlimited on most BR plans, and BigRock provides phpMyAdmin for easy database management. Cron jobs are available on Linux hosting, enabling scheduled scripts or backups. In short, pretty much all the standard features one would expect in a modern host are here, often unlimited (emails, databases, subdomains) once you move beyond the entry plan.
Security features deserve a mention. SiteLock (for malware scanning/removal) and CodeGuard (auto backups) can be added on any plan, and the latter includes up to 10GB backup space for free on VPS plans. We tested SiteLock’s basic plan (scanning once a week) and found it caught an old test malware we injected. More sophisticated SiteLock Pro is available if needed.
Importantly, BigRock doesn’t skimp on SSL; even the cheapest plans include HTTPS by default. Combined with their secured networks (firewalled data centers, DDoS protection at the network edge) and optional firewall configurations, BigRock offers a secure hosting environment.
On the administrative side, BigRock has some nice features too. The client dashboard allows easy domain management (including DNS settings) and billing control. Automatic domain renewal reminders and a domain lock option help prevent hijacking. I also liked the inclusion of a free domain suggestion tool (AI-based!) and free email forwarding. They occasionally run promotions where new domains or sitebuilder credits are bundled.
That said, not every feature is free or unlimited. Optimized WordPress hosting plans, for instance, limit the number of sites (1 or 2) and storage (5GB/20GB), so scaling up means buying multiple plans. Additionally, there’s no free domain on WordPress plans, which I wasn’t expecting since it comes included with BigRock’s cheaper regular shared hosting plans.
The basic Starter plan does not include a free domain or unlimited email, which are features of the higher-tier plans. It’s important to note that while some might expect free services such as daily backups, these backups are only partial. In reality, “daily backups” on lower-cost plans may not include off-site copies beyond a week. Additionally, BR offers backups for a nominal fee.
Overall, BigRock offers a comprehensive feature lineup that caters to a variety of websites. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate its features at 4.4 stars. It lost some points due to plan limitations, particularly in WordPress hosting, and the absence of completely unlimited perks in the cheapest tier.
However, this host provides most users with everything they need right from the start, including SSL, email, cPanel, one-click applications, security tools, and even advanced features like Git integration (supported through cPanel) and cron jobs. A bumpy ride with BigRock that eventually smoothed out
I’ve got to share my recent headache with BigRock over my domain, and it started as a real nightmare that left me questioning their whole operation.
My domain expired on August 26, 2025, and I immediately decided to transfer it to a different registrar to avoid any issues. However, the transfer process dragged on, and before I knew it, my client’s site and emails were completely offline, disrupting their daily work and causing chaos.
To cut my losses, I scraped the transfer idea and just renewed it directly with BigRock for another year, paying the full amount without hesitation.
You’d think that would fix everything, but more than two days later, the expiry date was still stuck on August 26, 2025, like the payment never happened. No update to 2026, and the downtime kept dragging on, hitting my client’s business hard with missed communications and lost opportunities.
I reached out to BR's chat support several times, hoping for some real help, but all I got were these canned replies about escalating to a senior team and high-priority tickets. Follow-ups didn’t change a thing; it felt like I was talking to a a wall, and the frustration built up fast. We’re talking about a service we paid a premium for, expecting things to run like clockwork, but instead, we were left hanging with no end in sight. It made me wonder how they handle urgent situations if this is their standard approach.
In the midst of all this, I added my customer ID and the domain details to push for a quicker fix, but even then, the problem lingered. I tried escalating as suggested by sending more info to an email they provided, only for those messages to bounce right back with an error saying the address didn’t exist.
That was a low point - here I was, already stressed, and now dealing with faulty contact info that just added to the mess. All I wanted was the basics: acknowledge the payment, bump the expiry to 2026, and get the DNS and emails back online. With the client’s operations grinding to a halt, every extra hour felt like a failure on BigRock’s part, and I was beyond disappointed in how slowly they moved.
Looking back now, though, I have to give credit where it’s due because after pushing harder and escalating further, the team finally steppped up. They sorted out the renewal, got everything updated, and even gave me a personal call to make sure it was all good.
That turnaround was a relief, and it showed me there are capable folks there when things reach the right level. I’ve bumped my rating up to four stars since the core issue got resolved, and the follow-up communication felt more genuine once it was in motion.
Still, it’s not a full five from me for a couple of reasons that linger in my mind. First off, their policy on outbound transfers is outdated, with no way to manually approve them, so you’re locked into waiting the full five to seven days, which can be a real pain if you’re in a hurry like I was. And the initial handling was sluggish; it shouldn’t take days of back and forth and actual downtime to get traction on something as straightforward as a paid renewal.
From my viewpoint, having dealt with other registrars, these are areas where BigRock could step up to match what’s become standard elsewhere. I’m glad it ended on a better note, and I value the eventual fix, but I hope they take steps to streamline their responses and update those transfer rules to make life easier for everyone involved.
