Freehostia Review

Freehostia is a total scam, seriously. Don't even think about using it. I had a terrible experience and they just take advantage of people.

I signed up for a free account and paid for a domain with them. I was waiting for everything to activate, but then my account just disappeared or got blocked for no reason. This company is trash and a complete scam! They talk about giving a refund but that never happens!

Freehostia made me very disappointed. I bought a domain from them and right after the payment went through, they blocked my account without any explanation. I contacted support and they said they saw some suspicious activity and won't give me my money back. It's really bad.

This is a scam company that just collects your personal data to sell it. The whole free hosting or free domain thing is fake. When you try to go to the domain you registered with them, it sends you somewhere else. If you check 'whois' to see who really owns it, you'll find it belongs to someone else with a different company. The entire website is a fake front to get your information. I'm reporting this.

I'm really let down by Freehostia because they don't care about their customers at all. I lost almost all of my clients because I used their service. They will shut down your sites when you start getting more customers. Be very careful, this service is a scam and they won't help you.

I had 2 free Chocolate Plan sites for ages. I bought extra memory for one of them, and then my account got blocked. Tech support told me: "Your account wasn't approved and we won't be providing any service. The order was cancelled and refunded. Please find another provider." They also said, "We don't have to tell you why we deny service, we have the right to do that." Then they said I broke the Terms of Service. I read them and thought maybe it was because I had 2 free accounts. I said sorry and asked if I could just get my files. They said no. They even warned me that if I kept asking about my "deleted" account, they'd block my support account too for "abuse." I wrote to their complaints email and got a strange reply about Capital One bank and fraud, which made no sense - my site just had pictures and text, no logos or payments, and I don't even use that bank. My card accepted the payment but it was later refunded, I guess by freehostia. I don't like being called a fraudster. They didn't follow their own rules - I never got any warning emails about a problem, and I wasn't allowed to get my data back.

Our site was hosted there for several years. We decided to pay to upgrade our hosting plan. About ten minutes after the payment was taken, with no warning at all, our entire website was wiped out and our login was blocked. A few days later we got an email that just said: 'Hello, We reserve our right to refuse services. The money have been refunded and should be on your end in 72 hours. Let us know if any question arise.' Our website was just for IT outsourcing services. The only reason I can guess for this crazy reaction is that one of our workers had a Russian-sounding name. I guess that's enough these days. They have the right to refuse service, but they don't have the right to delete all our data without a single warning. But who cares about that now, right?

My site has been offline for 20 hours now. They chose to do some hardware move on a Saturday during the day! What were they thinking? They never sent any email or notice about maintenance or downtime. I could have moved my domain name somewhere else if I knew. This is just crazy.

this is the worst service forever, when you place an order and buy something, the website doesn't work when you try to log back in. i have never seen anything like this?! stay away if you don't want to lose your money and your time
