Absolute garbage
Absolute garbage. I just tried to set up a simple website where I could add basic content. Something simple to start, like a blog. They make it easy to pay for a domain name and sign up. They give you a nice looking front page, but after that the whole experience was a nightmare. Clicking on Edit my webpage would either take me to an ad to upgrade or give me an error. I was never able to add anything to the site I just made. Took another 2 hours or more talking to tech support trying to get a refund, release the domain name, and remove my credit card info. Their responses were very slow but polite. This was a classic bait and switch. Get you to sign up and pay for the domain assuming you'd be able to build your website for the $21 a year they charge. Nope. You couldn't do anything without paying at least another $120. I saw no option to just write the code myself. They make you feel like you're going to lose your domain name if you cancel. I hate this type of sales and marketing and refuse to work with companies like this.

I have actually had quite a few great customer service experiences lately, but my experience with Anthony, on a SUNDAY for almost 2 hours, stands out as one of the best I have ever had. He was patient, understanding, solved my problem and then other issues I wasn't aware of. Then he helped me find ways to improve my business. If I had to pick one customer service person who deserved to be called number one, Anthony would be it. He not only deserves a raise but should be running customer service departments. Don’t waste your time. As easy as the platform seems when you want it to do something that it doesn’t they quickly want to sign you up to something else. When you don’t understand something else don’t bother trying to get a refund. It will fall outside their “refund policy”. I tried to cancel something hours after signing up and was told no sorry can’t refund. Which to me sounds ridiculous.

GoDaddy has to be one of the most frustrating and tricky platforms I’ve ever used. What should be simple, like buying a domain and making a basic website, turns into a mess of constant upsells, locked features, broken buttons, and support people who all seem to give different advice. Key issues: They try to sell you more at every step. Want to change something? Upgrade. Want basic online selling? Upgrade again. Want to pay monthly? Suddenly it's not available, but it works if you choose yearly. Features you click on do nothing. No error, no explanation, just wasted time. Support is inconsistent and confusing. One person deletes something you didn't ask to be deleted, another "fixes" it, then tries to sell you protection you don't need while your site is down. Everything about domains, SSL, DNS, and subscriptions is confusing and clearly made to make you spend more, not to help you understand. The platform feels made to trap beginners while offering nothing good for experienced users. The final thing? Moving to another platform and rebuilding the same site much faster, with no problems and no push to buy more. That says it all. GoDaddy isn’t just bad, it feels like it's against its customers. I wouldn’t recommend it to a beginner, a small business, or honestly anyone who values their time. Avoid.
